Welcome message from the General Seceratary

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL SECRETARY

Dr. Chandra Man Prajapati

MD, FNINS

I feel honored and privileged to be a part of the first executive committee of Nepal Neurointervention and Stroke Society (NNISS). Neurointervention, a minimally invasive catheter-based endovascular approach to treat neurological diseases, is an emerging area of neurosciences in Nepal. Although the specialists and centers providing this service are very limited in Nepal at present, we believe that we should expand this subspecialty through continuous training and education. The education also includes patient education and public awareness regarding neurological disorders including stroke and their timely management to prevent mortality or permanent disability.

As a new society, we feel it is our responsibility to foster this society which encompasses neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroradiologists involved in stroke care and neurointerventional procedures. We also intend to train paramedics including prehospital emergency medical service providers, nurses, technicians, physiotherapists and other personnel involved in stroke care (pre-hospital to rehabilitation). We plan to have affiliations with international counterparts, which will certainly help in exchange of knowledge, skills, technology through various trainings and fellowship programs.

Finally, I believe we will be able to overcome all the difficulties at this initial phase as well as in future, will grow together by learning and I request all your continuous support in these endeavors.

Thank you.

Dr Chandra Man Prajapati
